As a Player, I love when my DM... but I hate when they

Alright folks, let’s spill some tea!

What’s one thing that your DM (or GM, ST, K, N, etc.) does that you super-duper appreciate?

  • Then -

What’s something they do that you really wish they rather wouldn’t?

Appreciate - room for character development including between players, time at table that is not just combat, use of initiative as a management tool not necessarily meaning combat, laughter and whimsy, approaching as a co-created narrative with players including expecting us to be knowledgeable about our player info while also being a support in clarification.

Not appreciate - being too on rails, rules lawyering (I mean, if we’re totally wrong, tell us, but not appreciative of rigid or bordering on mansplainy), anything that focuses on the objective over the process (e.g. Cutting off players’ engagement with their own or other characters to get back on perceived task), saying they were going to get to (insert household chore) but couldn’t because they wouldn’t do it as well as me  :arrow_left: last one, totally a joke.
