I finally broke down and bought a starter paint set. I need to rethink glasses as I hold things 8 inches from my face to see the tiny bits for an hour and some better brushes but it’ll have to do.

I think the my plan might be to use flesh color primer in the future. The flesh was the toughest part IMO. If things were already the flesh color, coloring in the rest of the fields would not have been nearly as difficult.
I have not used my vision benefit for the year, maybe I need to get some snap together reading glasses Tommy Silva style.
If you only ever watched one painting guide, I’d suggest it be this one - it doesn’t go into the technical details, but goes over just about everything else you might do on a model. Bonus: it doesn’t give you the “magic trick” outcome, you see it all
The second video in the series is absolutely fantastic for demo’ing technique, but it’s a little bit longer and disjointed with “deep lore” details
Dry brushing will eventually be your friend
This might be like that one time I climbed onto a inner-tube pulled behind a ski boat at a tropical resort. Which is to say: perhaps one time only as I am not sure how enjoyable the process was. I mean painting the mini was more enjoyable than having my taint pressure washed with seawater I guess but not quite how I like to spend my time.
I’m sure we could, collectively, work to re-home your supplies if you decide firmly against it in future
