I learned today of the passing of John Sokol.
He was an artist, a designer of sculptures, and a poet. He died at 78.
I made John’s acquaintance as a fellow traveler at my (now closed, former) watering hole. He had an enviable knowledge of art, literature, and artists - even if you might be hard pressed to get through his quiet, solitary nature.
I’m glad to have made his acquaintance, and to have opened my home (as well as some others) to his works. I’ve thought of him, wondered how he’s been, and worried after him the last few years. I hope, as ever, that people find his work and appreciate the mind, the care, and the humor that he put into them.
