Ted Bushman, author and designer of (the excellent) The Last Caravan has just posted his new game Pantheon as an alpha-release digital download for playtesting!
I got a chance to play this with Ted and some incredible folks a couple years ago so I’m very interested in seeing how the concept has matured since then.
The brief version is that each player assumes the role of different deities that they define and develop through their interaction with the world, people in it, and - of course - each other’s deities.
Ted puts it like this:
In Pantheon , you will invent a union of gods and tell their mythic stories in an ancient world. You will discover yourself and strange beautiful lands, harness divine power, develop generational kinships with mortals, defend your people from calamities and other gods, and oversee the beginning and end of reality itself.
The concept is big, bold, and looks to incorporate both GM-led and GM-less play - which is very ambitious!
Ted is a creative powerhouse with personal presence to spare, and he’s deeply invested in creating thrilling, memorable, resonant experiences for (and with!) players through his games.
Pantheon is well worth checking out
