The writing becomes invisible to everyone other than you and the named creature for the next 24 hours. Either of you can dismiss the invisibility by touching the script. Can only be used once per day.

You successfully completed the trial of the Cave of Marvels and freed Ruby Wilyamz, an air djinni, from the binding curse placed on her lamp. You defeated the Vizier, the Rakshasa who bound Ruby to the lamp, but by landing a killing strike have returned his spirit to the Nine Hells in which he may reconstitute a mortal form. Your deeds have earned you a pact of alliance with the Maharani, Archfey of the Tiger. Mara revealed herself as the Maharani’s thirteenth daughter and collected her reward: release from her courtly obligations and the freedom to live as she chooses.

Shadow Tiger - Can summon a tiger once per dawn for 1d4 hours. It cannot attack, defend, or otherwise play any role in combat, but it may assist as a beast of burden, distraction, or intimidation tactic. The tiger emerges from and returns to the summoning character’s shadow, and appears as a solid, shadowy figure.

Eye of the Tiger - in honor of Mara-Al Na’Mir, princess of the Golden Temple, the Maharani and her shadow, the Tiger Mother, offer to bind you to her so that she may live on through you. Upon accepting, you gain a monochromatic (player choice of color and location) tattoo of a tiger’s eye. The tattoo is revealed in moonlight. As a bonus action, the player may invoke the tattoo to provide warming or cooling energy to protect themselves against extreme temperatures. This effect may be used once per day and lasts for 1d8 hours.

A quick note on future modules and the nature of Samsara:
The author of this adventure series chose to name his feywild Domain of Delight “Samsara” in honor and recognition of the cyclic nature of life, matter, and existence both within and without the game world. There is, perhaps, a small joke included in this, as an informal translation of the Sanskrit word is “running around in circles”

As players, you are welcome to change any and all aspects of your character between adventure modules, the only restrictions are:

  • you may not acquire any items not granted by the adventure
  • your abilities and features are determined by your present state (if you re-class from Fighter to Wizard, you lose all the Fighter class options)
  • your character level must be in-range for the adventure module

Throughout this series there will be times when the turning of the bhavachakra - the wheel of life - imposes a change upon you. We find ourselves now at just such a time.

As we look to begin our next chapter, The Jade Hare, we enter a period of regression and reflection that requires us to take a step back and set aside some of our experiences so that their lessons may be examined. As such, players joining for The Jade Hare will need to temporarily reduce their character level to a maximum of 3. Your rewards, titles, alliances, and conditions remain unaffected.

You collected and delivered the ritual ingredients to the Jade Hare. The Nightmare King’s assault on the Moon Palace was defeated, but his ability to manifest such a force within Samsara - and so near one of its Archfey - is troubling. Will the duodecennial ritual be enough to restore balance and drive out the Swift Shadow Syndicate? Or will Samsara fall to their uneelie influence?

You followed White Mouse’s trail back to the Dragon Lord and on to Ryboslav’s Retreat. Beneath the Old Ruins, you interrupted a ritual performed by agents of the Swift Shadow Syndicate and rescued both White Mouse and The Omega, the Dragon Lord’s shadow, from being sacrificed to an extra-planar being known as the Nightmare King. In the process, you recovered the three missing Dragon Stones, transfigured into a single onyx statuette of the Nightmare King.

You unraveled the Swift Shadow Syndicate’s time-travel plot against the Pearl, Archfey of the Serpent, and her shadow, the Ophidian. You reunited the lovers and dispelled a powerful curse laid on them across the entirety of their timelines and ensured that the couple’s love for one another not only blossomed, but ever happened in the first place. During the adventure, you visited multiple points in time and space, including fey domains prior to the formation of Samsara itself.

Shadows recede as Samsara prepares for A Fey at the Races (WBW-DC-ZODIAC-07)

A Fey at the Races (WBW-DC-ZODIAC-07)

You donned your derby-day finery and joined one of Samsara’s most ancient and anticipated events, The Archfey of the Horse’s dressage competition. You stepped in to replace the mounts’ missing jockeys, possibly befriending and bonding with your contestant-partner in the process. The competition was close, with Lady Henka and Mooncolor clenching the win and receiving the vaunted Samsara Cup.

Celebrations were cut short when the fairgrounds were suddenly attacked by an army of fiends and flying rocking horses. You quickly dealt with several of the infernal invaders while Qilin, the Archfey of the Horse, dispatched the bulk of their force. Ash, the stable-master, magicked the mounts to the presumed safety of the stables, not knowing the fiends struck there in hopes of capturing and transforming Qilin’s son Rider into a nightmare.

You defeated the narzugon Khan, banishing him back to the Nine Hells and foiling his plan to transform and abduct Rider. You interrupted the ritual and preserved Rider’s identity, nevertheless he has seemed changed by the ideal in the weeks that followed. His arrogance and entitlement have ebbed away, replaced by gentleness and generosity of spirit. The hard work of caring for so many injured, displaced, and dispossessed fey seems to have done Rider well; the pride he wears now comes from long days of hard work alongside his neighbors.

Qilin is glad of the change in his son, and he shares with you his concerns that the Nightmare King and Swift Shadow Syndicate have allied with powers in the Hells to bring devils into Samsara.

A Note on PHB Versions:

This adventure was originally written by Steven Truong using the 2014 Fifth Edition Player’s Handbook. Wizards of the Coast released a 2024 revision of the PHB recently, and it is purported to be fully backward-compatible with the '14 book. WotC’s expectation is that everyone migrate up to the '24 books once the new Monster Manual is released.
For the entire run of Luna Park, you get to choose which version you want to use, all I ask is that you not blend features, spells, rules, etc. between the two versions.
Samsara itself is a domain of reincarnation and rebirth, so you able and encouraged to rework any aspect of your character (including the PHB version you use) between chapters in this adventure

A Note on Character Levels

This campaign series is designed for three to seven players, with each adventure chapter specifying a target character level range for participation. All of the remaining adventures in this series are designed for characters of levels 5-10, with an assumed average of 8. The eagle-eyed reader will notice that Fey at the Races awards a character level up to a maximum of 10, so we have now reached the level cap for this series and future adventures will only grant levels for characters up to that limit. Multi-classing - is available. Multi-classed characters have a character level equal to the sum of their class levels. A PC with 7 levels of Rogue and 3 of Fighter (Rogue-7, Fighter-3) has a character level of 10. Retirement - you could, if you chose to do so, retire your character from this adventure. They would return to the Luna Carnival with all of their earned rewards and be replaced with a new level 5 character. No Change - you may also elect simply to continue with your character and simply not advance beyond level 10 (at least, not until the end of the series). Adventurers League is intended to provide portability to players and characters, so the characters that you have played in this series should be available for you to take to other tables, groups, and campaigns

The Golden Goats (WBW-DC-ZODIAC-08)

You helped The Shepherd, Mei, Archfey of the Goat by rescuing her sisters from Johnny Trolldic and his gang, the Trolls of Rock. Johnny had the dubious plan of ransoming Mei’s sisters - Bea, Rue, and Getty - for Mei’s hand in marriage. While foiling his vile scheme, you recovered and laid to rest the final remains of Hamnet, a spirit troll kept from moving on by Johnny.

It remains unknown how Johnny managed to grow so large and unscrupulous, even for a troll, but Samsara is better for your having stopped him.

Spirit Cleansing - Gained the eternal gratitude of the spirit of the chief of the Trolls. You can call forth and command a spirit (ghost) as an ally once for twenty-four hours. Once the spirit has fulfilled its purpose it will disappear; the story award is then removed from your character.

Shadow Goat - Characters can summon a shadow goat from their own shadow, once per dawn for 1d4 hours. The shadow goat has the statistics of a giant goat (2014) (2024). They cannot attack, defend, or otherwise play any role in combat.

Pact of the Satyr Sisters - You gain a monochromatic (player choice of color and location) tattoo of four goats, blessed by the Satyr Sisters. You can spend 5 downtime days to cast the spell Druid Grove or Tree Stride (2014) (2024). The feature can only be used once per dawn. Each time this feature is used, you must spend a further five downtime days. You are not required to know the spells cast in this way, nor do these spells count against a total of prepared spells for your character.
